Julie Chen Moonves will host the summer hit reality series Big Brother. The show is set to return to CBS on August 5 for the third season. Chen Moonves has been a part of The Talk since 2010, in which she served as both the host and the moderator. Her writing background was evident prior to becoming a host, but her love of writing was for the written word. In fact, it brought her an Emmy. Hosting an outstanding entertainment talk show earned her a second Emmy. Her background in news made her a natural for the switch into The Talk, which examines current events and issues through the eyes of five female hosts.Chen Moonves was co-host for CBS News' weekday morning show The Early Show from 2002 until 2010. Before that she was the CBS Morning News anchor and the host of The Early Show. Chen Moonves was assigned to Cairo following the events of the 9/11 attacks. There, she tracked down and interviewed the father who led hijackers for an eye-opening and fascinating interview. Chen Moonves interviewed celebrities such as Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. In addition, she met with the former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani as well as Queen Rania. Chen Moonves reported on the Emmy award-winning CBS Sunday Morning program. She profiled celebrities such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Betty White, Jamie Foxx, Scarlett Johansson, Katie Holmes Matthew McConaughey Brooks, Robert DeNiro, Jennifer Lopez, and Matthew McConaughey. While completing her last semester at University, she served as an assistant for ABC News in Los Angeles (1990-1991) as well as the producer of ABC NewsOne (the network's affiliated news service). Her first broadcasting job was working as a desk assistant to ABC News' late-night broadcast Nightline along with Ted Koppel, who remains one of her journalists' idols. Chen Moonves was Koppel's co-worker on Anatomy of a Riot (the Columbia du-Pont-winning Primetime Special that looked at what happened during the Los Angeles riots of 1992).
