Emily Irene VanCamp who initially was hoping to be professional dancer was drawn in acting after visiting her sister Katie on the set of the movie Ladies Room. The actress began taking acting classes and simultaneously landed roles as a guest on a TV show in her native Canada. She was on, among other shows, in Are You afraid Of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp's professional career began to take off when he was cast for the part of Sam Dolan, a regular in the series WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. The show was cancelled after just nine episodes despite the positive reviews and poor ratings. The May 12th, 1986 actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the main characters. Her part in the movie brought her 4 Teen Choice Awards nominations and an Young Artist Award.
